Footies

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 23 August 2026

Footies is a football trivia and puzzle game. This policy explains the limited information used to operate the app.

Information stored on the device

Footies stores theme and favourite-club choices, notification preferences, game progress, hints, streaks, completed games and unfinished-game state on your device. This makes autosave, resume and personalisation work.

Information used by online features

Online League creates a random anonymous account identifier. Footies stores that identifier with the display name you choose, League membership, puzzle results, selected difficulty and completion time. This is used only to calculate and display League standings.

When you opt into notifications, Footies stores the device push token, selected notification topics, timezone, device language and, for favourite-club alerts, the selected club and fixture-feed team identifier. This is used only to send the requested Game of the Day, League and club-fixture alerts.

Our hosting and data providers may process network information such as IP address and request logs as needed to deliver and secure these services. Football fixture queries are made by the Footies server; the paid provider key is never included in the app.

Tracking, advertising and sale

Footies does not use advertising SDKs, sell personal information, or track users across apps or websites owned by other companies. Footies does not request contacts, precise location, photos, microphone or camera access.

Subscriptions and purchases

Footies offers an optional paid subscription called Footies+. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store, and Footies does not receive or store your payment card information. Footies uses RevenueCat to validate purchases, manage subscription status, and provide subscription entitlements. RevenueCat may process an anonymous app user identifier together with purchase and subscription information for these purposes. Apple's and RevenueCat's respective privacy policies also apply to their services.

Service providers

Footies uses Supabase for authentication, database, real-time League updates and server functions; Apple Push Notification service to deliver optional iPhone alerts; and a licensed football-fixture provider for selected club match times. These providers process information only as needed to provide their service, subject to their own terms and privacy commitments.

Two further services are contacted directly by the app to load national flag images, which is the only content Footies fetches from outside its own bundle:

  • flagcdn.com — national flags, requested by two-letter country code.
  • commons.wikimedia.org — flags for a small number of national and historical teams that have no country code of their own, such as England, Scotland, Wales and the former Yugoslavia.

These requests are made by your device when a flag is displayed. They carry no Footies account identifier and no gameplay information, and Footies sends no personal data to either service. As with any request to a third-party server, your device's IP address is visible to it, and each service's own privacy terms apply. Club visuals are not fetched at all — every club is drawn by the app from its colours.

Retention and deletion

Online League information is retained while the anonymous Footies account exists. Push subscriptions are deleted when every notification topic is switched off.

You can open Privacy & support → Delete my Footies data inside the app to delete the online anonymous account, League records and push token, and to clear local app data.

Deleting the app is not the same as deleting your data. Removing Footies from your iPhone deletes local-only data, but does not by itself delete online League data. In version 1.0 League accounts are anonymous and are not linked to an Apple ID or email, so deleting the app without using in-app deletion also means that anonymous identity cannot be recovered. Use in-app deletion first if you want your online data removed.

Children

Footies is a general-audience football game and does not knowingly collect a child's real name, email address, precise location or advertising identifier. League display names should not contain personal contact information.

Changes

This policy may be updated when Footies features or providers change. The effective date above will be revised, and material changes will be explained in the app or release notes where appropriate.
